Proposed Itinerary

Day 1 & 2 - USA - Lisbon - Santarem - Fatima

Board your overnight transatlantic flights to Lisbon. Dinner and breakfast are served on board. Arrive in Lisbon, meet your local guide and board you private motor coach for a scenic drive to Santarem, one of the oldest cities in the world. Here you will have Mass and visit the Church of St Stephen, which contains the oldest recorded Eucharistic Miracle which has been on continuous display since the year 1269. There will be time for lunch before continuing on to nearby Fatima. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.

Day 3 - Fatima
Six times, from the May 13 to October 13, 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared to three simple shepherd children and exhorted mankind to pray for world peace. See the basilica that was constructed in 1928 and contains the graves of visionaries Lucia, Francesco and Jacinta. Celebrate Mass at the Little Chapel of the Apparitions and visit the Hamlet of Aljustrel, where the children lived. Visit Valinhos, the site of Our Lady’s appearance after the children returned from prison and follow the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra culminating in the Chapel of Calvary, which overlooks all of Fatima. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (Tonight you may participate in a candlelight procession.)

Day 4 - Lisbon - Toulouse - Lourdes

Early departure to the Lisbon Airport, to board your flight to Toulouse. Upon arrival in Toulouse you will be met by your local French guide, who will travel with you to Lourdes, the birthplace of St Bernadette, and where Our Lady appeared in 1858 near the Grotto of Massabielle. Enjoy dinner, followed by a candlelight procession. Overnight in Lourdes.

Day 5 & 6 - Lourdes
See a video presentation telling the story of Lourdes and enjoy a guided tour which will include the sanctuary; the Grotto, where Our Lady appeared under the title of the Immaculate Conception; the Basilica of the Rosary; the Basilica of St Pius X, the world’s largest underground church; the Boly Mill where St Bernadette was born and the "Cachot," an abandoned prison where Bernadette’s impoverished family lived; and the baths where hundreds of miraculous cures have taken place. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes.

Day 7 - Lourdes - Rome - Loreto
Travel by flight to Rome. Upon arrival your Italian escort will meet you and bring you to your private motor coach. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Italian countryside to the Adriatic Coast, and the town of Loreto. Dinner and overnight in Loretto.

Day 8 - Loreto - Assisi - Rome
Begin with a visit to the great Marian shrine of Loreto to see the Holy House of Nazareth and the beautiful Madonna of Loreto. More t
han 50 popes have made a pilgrimage to the house, where the Holy Family once lived, and was transported by angels to this hill in central Italy. Continue on to the hilltop town of Assisi where you will visit the Basilicas of St. Francis to see the tomb of St. Francis, and St. Mary of the Angels, where you will visit the Chapel, Portiuncola, which contains the rose bush and the cave where the saint retired for prayer. You will have time for lunch and to stroll the medieval streets before traveling to Rome. Dinner and overnight in Rome.

Day 9 - Rome St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museum.
Begin the day with an early Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica and then return to the hotel for breakfast. Today’s itinerary includes: a visit to the Vatican Museum to see the Sistine Chapel, which contains Michelangelo's famous mural of the Last Judgment, and is where the world’s cardinals gather in conclave to elect new popes; a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, built on the site where St Peter was martyred. Here you will have a chance to marvel at Michelangelo’s Pieta, Bernini's bronze canopy, and take an elevator to the top of the Dome (at additional cost) to take in the panoramic views of the city. Highlights of historic Rome will be seen on a walking tour that includes the Arch of Constantine, theRoman Forum, and the Mamertine Prison which once held Saints Peter and Paul. The tour ends with a visit to the Trevi Fountain and to the Pantheon which has the largest unsupported dome in the world, and was the first pagan temple ever to be transformed into a church. Dinner and overnight in Rome.

Day 10 - Rome
Visit St Mary Major, one of the oldest shrines dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, a shrine that contains a relic from the manger of the infant Jesus. Stop at the Church of St Alphonsus Liguori and see the famous icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. From here, visit the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem, which was designed to house the relics of the True Cross found by the St. Helen on Calvary. Visit the Basilica of the St John in Lateran, which is the Cathedral of Rome and the former residence of the popes. Across the street you may climb the “Holy Stairs,” which is the actual staircase from the palace of Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem. End the day with a look inside the ancient Roman colosseum, where gladiatorial combats, hunts, wild animal fights and even mock naval engagements once took place. Dinner and overnight in Rome.

 Day 11 - Rome
Visit to the remaining “Seven Pilgrim Churches in Rome;” the Basilica of St. Lawrence Outside the Walls, which contains the remains of St. Lawrence; the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, which houses the remains of St Paul under its main altar; and the Basilica of Saint Sebastian Outside the Walls and the Catacombs of St. Sebastian, which are located along the Via Appia Antica. Enjoy a little free time this afternoon to shop or enjoy an espresso at sidewalk café. Special dinner for the last night in Rome.

Day 12 - Rome - USA
