Petra - Jerash, Um Qais - Sea of Galilee
A visit to Petra is
indeed an adventure. From the town of Wadi Musa you will walk through the rose

the Bible Gerasa) with its temples, streets of columns, theatres and even from a

walked to draw water from the spring. Dinner and overnight in Galilee.
Sat, Jul 25 - Sepphoris, Mt Carmel,
We begin the day by
visiting Sepphoris, a regional city at the time of Jesus. Then on to Mukhraka
where Elijah confronted the false prophets of Baal and where the Carmelite Order
was started. Continue down the coast to Caesarea, where the Romans held Paul
prisoner and visit the Roman and Crusader ruins. This evening you will arrive in
Jerusalem, a city with 4000 years of history. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Sun, Jul 26 - Jerusalem: Temple
Model, Bethlehem (Nativity), Ein Karem (Visitation)
This morning we will
visit a model of the Second Temple as it was in the time of Jesus. Following
this visit, you will take a short drive to the village of Ein Karem, the
birthplace of John the Baptist. There are two churches here, representing the
two homes of Zechariah and Elizabeth, are the Church of the Nativity of St. John
the Baptist, and the Church of the Visitation. In the after-noon, you will
travel to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. Visit Manger Square and the Church
of the Nativity built over the grotto which marks the spot of Our Savior's
birth. Here beneath the altar, there is a silver star and a Latin inscription
that states: HIC DE VIRGINE MARIA JESUS CHRISTUS NATUS (Here Jesus Christ was
born to the Virgin Mary). Following Mass we will visit Shepherd's Fields and see
the caves where they lit fire to keep warm through the night. Return to
Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.
Mon, Jul 27 - Bethany, Jericho,

visit to Bethany where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead before continuing on
to the oasis town of Jericho to see the excavations of the oldest city in the
world and to view Mt. Temptation where Jesus fasted and was tempted by Satan.

and the Chapel of the Ascension from where Jesus ascended to Heaven. Walk down
along the Palm Sunday route stopping at Dominus Flevit, where Jesus wept over
Jerusalem. Then to Gethsemane, the Rock of Agony, where Jesus prayed His last
prayer before His arrest. In the afternoon, we will visit the remains of Western
Wall of the ancient Temple of Jerusalem. Nearby is the Dome of the Rock and
Temple Mount. From there you will visit the House of Caiaphas and see the
dungeon where Jesus was imprisoned after His arrest. Also called St. Peter in
Gallicantu (which means “cockcrow” in Latin), this is the place where Peter
denied knowing Jesus three times. You will also visit the Upper Room on Mt.
Zion. The Upper Room is where Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Last Supper
and where Jesus appeared to His disciples
after His Death and Resurrection.
Nearby you will visit the Benedictine Church of the Dormition which tradition
tells us is the place where Mary, the Mother of Jesus, "fell asleep," before her
Assumption into heaven. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Wed, Jul 29 - Jerusalem: Via
Dolorosa (The Way of the Cross) - Holy Sepulchre (The Crucifixion and the
This morning you will
have a very early wake-up to begin the Via Dolorosa (The Way of the Cross) at
the Antonia Fortress. This is the spot where Jesus was condemned to death by
Pontius Pilate. Following His condemnation, He was taken (on the Road to
Calvary) to His place of Crucifixion. Reflect upon the Stations of the Cross as
you travel through the markets of the Old City to the Church of the Holy
Sepulcher, the site of Calvary (Jesus' crucifixion place) and His tomb, to
celebrate Mass. Following Mass, you will return to the hotel to enjoy breakfast.
You will continue your day with a visit to the Church of St. Anne's, the home of
Jesus' maternal grand-parents (Anne and Joachim); and the Pool of Bethesda,

revisit your favorite places in the Old City. Enjoy a special Farewell Dinner
overnight in Jerusalem.
